This week I had my booking appointment and met my midwife, Sue. I didn't really know what to expect and it turned out to be mainly filling in a lot of forms, some bloods taken to send away, and asking about my preferences in terms of screening tests for my scan appointment in a few weeks time.
We decided to go for the screening tests, even though I'm apparently low risk, and now baby will be checked for Edwards, Pataus and Downs syndromes through a blood test when I go for my scan.
I've been feeling OK.. not great. I've had a bad stomach, particularly on the mornings, and generally feeling a bit lethargic and very dizzy when I get up. Apparently my blood pressure is on the extra-low side (it's always lower during pregnancy), which explains a lot of it. After I had my bloods taken that day though I felt absolutely dreadful, and spent the rest of the day on the couch under a blanket, unable to really eat or do anything for the rest of the day. I felt so worried that I'd have a shit time next week at Glastonbury and be a real pain in the arse to David and everyone there by needing to stop and being a bit moan-y. Fortunately I felt loads better the next day and a bit more back on track.
A few days later our scan date arrived through the post - so, so exciting. 13th July. I got Vivienne booked into breakfast club at school to make a bit more time on the morning and Dav will meet me there from work. With a date now looming I suddenly felt worried that everything wouldn't be OK, I don't really know what else to say but really looking forward to my appointment and hopefully coming away with pictures and smiles.
We did something a little bit nuts considering it's ridiculously early days.. something that would give my mother in law the jitters in case something goes wrong... We put a deposit down on a buggy...
Read MoreThis week we did the 'Glastonbury Shop', ahead of packing and going in a week or so. It contained all the usual.. lots of baby wipes, snacks, tissues, sun cream.. but this time, excitingly, a lot of non-alcoholic substitutes too. We are anticipating it being a little tricky......
